Balmer Lawrie inaugurates a Water Storage Tank at Padghe Village,Taloja 04 March 2016

Balmer Lawrie & Co. Ltd., the highly diversified PSE under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoPNG), as a part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan has constructed a Water Storage Tank at Padghe Village, Taloja, Navi Mumbai in association with Rotary Club of Industrial Town, Panvel. Shri Prabal Basu, Chairman & Managing Director, Balmer Lawrie and Shri Prashant Thakur, MLA, Panvel today inaugurated the Water Storage Tank. The Guests of Honour Ms. Manjusha Bhatnagar, Director [HR & CA], Balmer Lawrie, Mr. D Sothi Selvam, Director [Manufacturing Businesses], Balmer Lawrie, Dr. Girish Gune, PDG- Dist. 3131 and Shri D N Tetgure, BDO Panchayat Samiti, Panvel were also present on the occasion.
 
The Water Storage Tank with a capacity of 150,000 litres will benefit 10,000 villagers of Padghe Village, which is situated near the Company’s High Throughput Barrel Manufacturing Plant at Taloja, Navi Mumbai. This facility will play an important role in reducing the problem of water supply in the village in turn improving sanitation and quality of life of the people. The implementation partner, Rotary Club of Industrial Town, Panvel, executed the project on time. 

Balmer Lawrie’s CSR initiatives are founded on two Flagship Schemes Balmer Lawrie Initiative for Self Sustenance [BLISS] and Samaj Mein Balmer Lawrie [SAMBAL]. The first scheme is directed at providing and improving the long term economic sustenance of the underprivileged. Under the second scheme, the company initiates development work in villages in an around its manufacturing units and work centres. Developmental work at Padghe Village in Taloja and at Khadoli Village in Silvassa are some initiatives as part of this scheme. Both the villages are located close to key manufacturing units and the company continuously endeavors to improve the living standards of the villagers as a part of SAMBAL. The construction of the water tank at Padghe Village, Taloja is one more step by the company to improve the quality of life of people living in the village.
